Moscow Metro

Moskovskoe Metro

The amazing world of the Moscow metro cannot but impress anyone, who gets there. Palace/like underground vstibules with their magnificent olumns, sparkling chandeliers, splendid mosaic panels, sculptures, stained glass pictures, and luxurious decor leave a long-lasting impression. Tranquil and majestic late in the evening yet full of ebullient life in the morning and in the afternoon, it is like a reflection of the capital's rapid and diverse life. One can find elements in classicism and baroque styles as well as ascetic forms here. Many stations commemorate significant events in the country life. Each of them is unique and bears an imprint of the time when it was built. Thousandas of brilliant painters, sculptors, architects and construction workers contributed their talent and soul to this underground ensemble. The first section of the metro was opened as earlz as in 1935 and was only 11.6 km long. Now it has 170 stations all in all and is 280 km long connecting the most distant areas of Moscow. It is the fastest, most convenient and, undoubtedly, most beautiful and favourite transport for the Muscovites and the guests of the capital. About 9 million people use it daily.

Welcome to this wonderful world!
