Opened in June 2004, the 5000 m2 lagoon in Mývatn is filled with geothermal water rich in minerals, silica and blue green algae. Wie sein Großvater, der große Kurfürst, interessierte sich sein Enkel
Friedrich Wilhelm I. für Holland. Gesammelte Eindrücke während seiner
Aufenthalte dort 1700 und 1704/05 prägten die frühe Stadterweiterung -
wie das für die hier lebenden Holländer errichtete Viertel.
